January 2008
Message from the President…
Happy New Year! Although our Civic year starts in September and runs through to June of the next year every January still offers that sense of a new start.
New in a few ways; we wrap up last year’s grants and we start asking for and planning to spend this year’s money. We also start implementing the projects we initiated over the past few months. Keep your eyes out for some really great flower poles at various sites, the newly planted welcome signs and clock and the soon to be routine cleanups we will be hosting this Spring and Summer.
This year we also have our new 4th LD Suffolk County Legislator Brian Beedenbender who we have already sat down with to discuss our partnership in bettering our community.
As you all are receiving this particular newsletter please take a moment to send in $20 for your membership fee if you haven’t already. Membership covers the civic year – 9/2007 to 6/2008. Please do not wait for the next year as the funds are really needed now. So if you think we are doing some good things for Centereach please contribute. It would be appreciated.
Speaking of appreciated donations….special thanks to the Suffolk Diner Guys; Steve, Louis, George, Gus and Nick for a very generous donation of $1,000.00 to our civic. And just as important, many thanks to Ted Landy for mentioning to the Suffolk Diner Guys that our funds are a little low. Suffolk Diner is an integral part of our community so please support them as they have supported not only us but many community based organizations over the many years they have been here. Love those guys.
Whenever there is something good going on that is community friendly the civic will always try to help spread the word. Right now Burlington Coat Factory is hosting “Warm Coats, Warm Hearts;” up until January 31st Burlington in Lake Grove is collecting gently used warm winter coats. Look around your house – if you’re not wearing it why not let someone else stay warm. This is a great way to teach children that small (and easy) deeds make a big difference.
Respectfully, Diane Caudullo
